I've been an artist since the 1970's, producing photography and sculpture until the end of the 20th Century. In the 21st Century, I pivoted from physical work to 3D animation, photography, and digitally manipulated photography. Currently my sculpture and virtual work have merged more fully and I am generating work submitted to festivals and other venues. I continue to experiment with drone cinematography and portrait still photography.
My photography and virtual work has often focused upon exteriors and representations of landscapes. The most recent 3D pieces leverage my knowledge of visual effects techniques to create unusual contexts for the sculptures set in these landscapes.
I'm a visual effects teacher, and have been using 3D applications such as Side Effects Houdini for over twenty years. My environments are generated procedurally, and the sculptures are built using original Rapidograph drawings as the foundation of the designs. The work is in a continual state of development and evolution and as the imagery progresses, what the next steps are are unknown.
